The South County PTSO is sponsoring a VIRTUAL BOOK FAIR online for students
to purchase their SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENTS for grades 7-12.
Available books will include Middle School and High School English, AP English,
AP Social Sciences, and AP Math, as well as additional resource materials for Foreign Language,
ESOL, PSAT, SAT, ACT, SAT II, and AP Test Preparation, and books of interest for
Middle School, High School and Adult Readers.
Important Dates:
Delivery to SCSS 9/30 - orders in by 9/21
Delivery to SCSS 10/30 - orders in by 10/21
Delivery to SCSS 11/30 - orders in by 11/21

Kaplan SAT Test Strategies Seminar -
Wednesday, August 26th 7:00 PM - Borders Tysons Corner
Kaplan is hosting a free SAT Test Strategies seminar on Wednesday, August 26
from 7:00-8:00pm at the Borders in Tysons Corner, located at 8027 Leesburg Pike.
Learn to score higher on the SAT using key Kaplan strategies, and discover the role of
the SAT in the college admissions process. Contact Kaplan to pre-register at 1-800-KAPTEST.
The SCSS PTSO and Kaplan will work together again, during the 2009-2010 school year,
to offer practice SAT and ACT tests which are fundraisers for the PTSO.
Kaplan will also offer a discount on their test prep classes and tutoring services to South County families.

A Fundraising Partnership
The SCSS PTSO continued its fundraising efforts this past school year with
Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, by providing SAT & ACT practice test
opportunities, as well as offering a discount to families who choose Kaplan
services.
The PTSO receives $50 for each student who registers and completes a
course of study!
We plan to offer several practice test opportunities during the 2009-2010
school year so watch for more information from the South County PTSO. For

Coalition
The Safe Youth Coalition is a tax-exempt non-profit school/community coalition
located in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C.
OUR MISSION: The Safe Youth Coalition supports programs that foster an atmosphere
where all youth can grow up in a safe environment free of violence, prejudice, and
substance abuse. The coalition is committed to strengthening family-community-school
partnerships and is working to make a difference for youth in the Greater Springfield/Lorton
and Alexandria areas.
